ART REPRODUCTION & CAPTURE

We’ve been doing fine art reproductions for over 20 years! Our approach is simple – to provide the best value possible while retaining the integrity of your artwork. To that end we have a carefully controlled process that allows us to get great renditions of your artwork while keeping pricing reasonable. Our process does not require feeding artwork through a scanner, and is suitable for delicate/unusual originals.

CAPTURE / SETUP PRICING

Each client will have unique requirements that may impact pricing. We will be happy to discuss your particular needs and can work to meet a budget, a deadline, or the most critical of requirements. Let us know your specifics for an estimate.

RUSH CAPTURES: Regular turnaround is ~1 week for capture and proofing. We can usually accommodate a rush reproduction, but depending on the circumstance that may require either skipping the proofing/color matching step, or a rush charge to dedicate time outside of our normal workflow. Please let us know as far in advance as possible.

VOLUME CAPTURES: The more we do at once the more efficient things get. Volume projects are billed hourly instead of by-the-piece, which can result in significant savings, especially for basic captures which can get as low as $25.

BASIC CAPTURE: A 60MP* capture with quick on screen adjustment but no proofing or retouching. A big step up from most DIY captures, this will be ready to use for less critical applications with no compromise on image quality.

STANDARD CAPTURE (Our most popular service): Starting at 60MP* with larger sizes getting increased resolution to retain all of their subtle details. We tweak, do a little cleanup on obvious areas like backgrounds/edges, and provide a printed proof for you. This provides a “good” print ready match and is used by the majority of our clientele.

ADVANCED CAPTURE: Allows for extra time during photography for added control over trickier subjects like metallics, more complex editing cleanup requests, and more critical color matching requirements. Perfect for clients with critical requirements. Extra time and materials are billed as required.

CAN YOU MATCH MY OWN FILES TO MY ART?

Unless your files have been setup by someone that specializes specifically in fine art reproduction, they are unlikely to yield the best results. If you still have the artwork it is often less costly and higher quality for us to reshoot it from scratch.

WHAT SIZE CAN YOU REPRODUCE?

We can reproduce almost any size, though anything larger than 40″x60″ requires a special booking for capture so we can either turn it around same-day, or arrange safe storage.

CAN MY ORIGINAL BE WET/UNCURED?

Your originals must be fully cured before drop off. Without special arrangements your art must be able to withstand normal handling, contact with paper/cardboard, and incidental dust exposure without sticking under light pressure for vertical storage.

CAN YOU REPRODUCE DELICATE/DAMAGED ORIGINALS?

Our non-contact process can handle *almost* any original. Your original must be flat and suitable for photography on a near-vertical surface to fit in with our normal workflow.  For extremely delicate/damaged originals, or if your artwork requires zero-contact horizontal storage please call us with the details prior to drop-off.

MY ART HAS METALLICS, WILL IT BE EXPENSIVE?

You can still use our Standard or even our Basic service to capture art with metallics. Basic will give the least amount of control, Standard will allow us to enhance the metallics a bit more selectively, and Advanced will give us a ton of control to blend metallics in-and-out as required for the right feel.

CAN YOU CAPTURE FRAMED ARTWORK?

In most cases yes, though best results are with a glassless frame that does not cast a shadow like a traditional float frame. The thicker & more recessed the frame, the more shadow it will cast during photography, and the trickier it will be. We can usually capture through glass quite successfully if there is no other option. We can remove and reframe your art during capture on request (shop rates apply).

CAN WE REPRODUCE SOMEONE ELSE'S ARTWORK, OR ART I PURCHASED?

In Canada, an artist & their estate will retain copyright (and all reproduction rights) to their work for a period of 70 years from their death. Owning the original artwork does not grant the right to reproduce that artwork within that time period. Please contact us with the details if you are unsure about your circumstances – under certain conditions exceptions might be possible for personal use. For example if your family grew up with a painting on the wall of unknown origin, and you would like to make 3 copies so that your siblings each have one, this would likely be allowable with an indemnity waiver.
